FEMALE EMANCIPATION IN BEATRIZ PINHEIRO’S PUBLICATIONS IN THE PORTUGUESE MAGAZINE AVE AZUL

Abstract
This paper deals with the theme of women’s emancipation in texts published by the Portuguese writer Beatriz Pinheiro in the periodical Ave Azul (1899–1900) and its general objective is to analyze the contribution of this author in the nineteenth-century Portuguese press, regarding her claim agenda from the main themes addressed, such as: work, education, religion and family. Our intention is to discuss the emancipation of women in Beatriz Pinheiro’s publications linked to their own condition at the end of the 1800s. As for the methodology, we used bibliographic and documental research; then, we employed the analysis of the selected texts in the magazine. As a result, we verified the relevance of the timeless discourse of this writer, because beyond the repercussion of women's concerns and her performance in the struggle for emancipation, we can verify the similarities of agendas that continue until our days.
