RIO NEGRO, RIO IÇANA, RIO SOLIMÕES, AND INDIGENOUS WOMEN IN THE STRUGGLE FOR THEIR TERRITORIES — AMAZONAS / BRAZIL

Abstract

The article presents a theoretical research at the master’s level, in which the works of three indigenous thinkers from the state of Amazonas are analyzed. They represent the pedagogical thinking of their respective peoples and are active in different spaces of Amazonian society. These thinkers are: Alva Rosa Vieira, from the Tukano people, known as Alva Rosa Tukano; Francineia Fontes, from the Baniwa people, known as Francy Baniwa; and Altaci Rubim, from the Kokama people, known as Altaci Kokama. This research’s main goal is to highlight the life and work trajectories of indigenous women in the state in their struggle for the right to the existence of their peoples. For the composition of this work, we selected the following works: Território etnoeducacional rio Negro: significações de uma política públic (2017) by Alva Rosa Tukano; Minha escrevivência, experiências vividas e diálogo com as mulheres indígenas do rio Negro — Amazonas/Brasil (2020) by Francy Baniwa; and O reordenamento político e cultural do povo Kokama: a reconquista da língua e do território além das fronteiras entre o Brasil e o Peru (2016) by Altaci Kokama. Making these women and their research visible as a source of ancestral knowledge of the indigenous territories of the Amazon is a way to strengthen the scientific and ancestral production developed by indigenous women.
