TO BE OR NOT TO BE HUMAN? (IN)HUMANITY IN CHRONICLES OF CAPITAL

Abstract

In the Present Time, the context of severe structural crises encourages the arts to express blunt social criticism. Based on Critical Theory and Marxist Cultural Studies, the choice for the literary production of absurdity and fiction has been the fruitful source for us to seek, in the feeling of dialectics, the nuclear alert to the dangers of History written solely by the victors. Using a qualitative and documentary approach written and published in recent decades, this article aims to analyze characteristics of the absurd as a phenomenon of capitalism, taking intellectuals such as Kafka, Beckett, Saramago and Asimov into reference. In conclusion, we draw attention to cultural studies and production in literature and cinema as forms of social interpretation and criticism.
