COHESIVE ELEMENTS AT THE SERVICE OF MAINTENANCE AND THEMATIC PROGRESSION IN THE TEXTUAL GENRE DOCUMENTARY PROJECT

Abstract
We investigated, in this work, the textual cohesion resources used for the maintenance and thematic progression in the textual genre Documentary Project. This genre was produced at the Portuguese Language Olympics (PLO), a production contest of different written and multimodal textual genres (documentary) in 2019 and belongs to the semifinalist phase. The focused genre accompanies the documentary film when the genres are submitted for evaluation by the Olympic organizing committee. In order to achieve the proposed objective, we developed an analysis guided by the qualitative approach. This study is characterized as a documentary research, since we take the Documentary Project as an object of study. The results, obtained from the theoretical contribution of Textual Linguistics, showed us that the cohesive resources used for maintenance and thematic progression used by the student-actors were the repetition itself and the association. The study seeks to contribute to the production of written texts in the teaching context with regard to textual cohesion and coherence.
