Abstract

In this article, we analyze the use of terms in the writing of reflective reports written in English by pre-service teachers of the English Language Arts course, during the Supervised Internship at the Federal University of Northern Tocantins (UFNT). This research falls within the field of Applied Terminology to Teaching and aims to extract the terms used in the reports, classify the types of terms found, identify whether these terms make the text more technical or not and develop a mini glossary for teaching other undergraduate students in writing future reflective reports. To this end, we analyzed eight reflective reports written by eight pre-service teachers who reported their experiences when teaching in the Supervised Internship II for the first time, developing their reflective practices to improve their future professional practices. The results showed that the teaching/learning of terms becomes important, as they are essential instruments for capturing scientific facts, for storing and retrieving data, for more intense and efficient communication between specialists, within and between scientific areas.
