JIM — Journal of Medical Research is a semiannual peer-reviewed scholarly journal published in digital format and open access by Ponteditora. J2 is committed to producing, disseminating, and promoting original scholarly work in the field of social sciences, with a particular focus on legal and related areas.

Mission and Scope

J2 aims to strengthen its long-term mission of gathering and disseminating knowledge, fostering scholarly communities dedicated to the social sciences.

The journal encourages convergent, interdisciplinary, and multidisciplinary approaches to the study of law and social sciences.

J2’s editorial scope is organised into areas such as:

  • Law.
  • Criminology.
  • Political Science.
  • Public Administration.
  • Sociology.
  • Anthropology.

The mission of J2 is to promote the study of social sciences and to stimulate research output and academic essays at a global level.

Language and Publication Format

The journal publishes primarily in Portuguese and English, while also accepting other languages when duly justified by the editorial context.

Submissions in both pre- and post-orthographic agreement Portuguese are accepted, in accordance with the authors’ stated intention as indicated in a submission note included with the manuscript. Each article must include a title, abstract, and keywords.

The journal is published twice a year in digital format, with each issue containing approximately 80 to 180 A4 pages.

Editorial Structure and Peer Review

The Editorial Team is composed of a group of academics and professionals committed to scientific rigor and editorial independence. In addition to regular issues, the journal also publishes special issues coordinated by guest editors with recognized expertise. All submissions undergo a two-stage evaluation:

  1. Desk Review — Conducted by the Editor-in-Chief and Assistant Editors to assess alignment with the journal’s scope and editorial standards.
  2. Peer Review — Authors may choose between single-blind (anonymous reviewer), double-blind (default), or open peer review. In cases of conflicting evaluations, a third reviewer may be consulted.

All articles are selected based on relevance, scientific quality, and respect for diversity of perspectives.

The Editorial Team also upholds the ethical principles enshrined in Article 17 of the Portuguese Press Law, ensuring journalistic good faith and responsibility toward readers.

Access and Inclusion

The journal is fully open access, offering free and unrestricted access to all its content. The journal actively promotes inclusivity and welcomes submissions from diverse geographic, institutional, and disciplinary backgrounds.

Open Science and Research Data

The journal encourages transparency and reproducibility in research. Authors are encouraged to deposit research data supporting their findings in trusted open repositories whenever possible and to include a Data Availability Statement in their manuscripts.

The journal supports the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable). When data cannot be shared due to ethical, legal or privacy restrictions, authors should clearly state the reasons in the manuscript.
