NONPHARMACOLOGICAL STRATEGIES IN THE CONTROL OF CHRONIC PAIN IN ADOLESCENTS

Abstract
Introduction: The diagnosis of a chronic disease has a profound impact on the life of adolescents and family. Pain is often associated with the disease and/or procedures inherent to the entire trajectory of the disease. The Nurse Specialist in Child and Pediatric Health should assume the adolescent's pain as an important focus of care, adopting all strategies for its prevention and control.
Objectives: To identify scientific production related to non-pharmacological strategies in the control of chronic pain in adolescents.
Methodology: Integrative Literature Review carried out in the databases: CINAHL Complete; MEDLINE Complete; Nursing & Allied Health Collection: Comprehensive; Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials; Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews and MedicLatina, available search engine EBSCO, published between 2012 and 2022. The selection and analysis of relevance of the articles was carried out by the reviewers independently.
Results: Of the 364 initial articles, 8 articles were selected according to previously defined criteria. It was found that the Nurse Specialist in Child and Pediatric Health strategies are mainly directed to adolescents and parents, in the home context and using technologies. Strategies focused on adolescents in a clinical context are also presented and the influence of external support is reinforced through online coach.
Conclusion: It is essential to invest in the training of professionals, sensitizing them to the implementation of non-pharmacological strategies in the relief of chronic pain in adolescents, as well as the need to adapt interventions to new technologies.
