SCOPE

RAE — Journal of Engineering Assets is a biannual academic publication aimed at professors, researchers, and professionals. Its mission is to publish and disseminate scientific works focused on the management of engineering assets.

The editorial focus of RAE revolves around themes in engineering asset management, with the purpose of disseminating studies supported by broad and multidisciplinary perspectives that combine aspects of engineering, management, economics, and finance. Priority is given to studies that stand out for their quality and originality, with a focus on the value generated from engineering assets through the alignment of various activities that affect them throughout their lifecycle. The primary goal is to consolidate the fundamentals and promote innovative views of engineering asset management, contributing to the competitiveness of organizations, both public and private, whose activities are heavily centered on this type of asset and, ultimately, to a more sustainable and resilient society.

Published twice a year, it offers open, immediate, and free access to its content, following the principle that scientific knowledge is freely available based on scientific responsibility, social responsibility, and knowledge transfer to society.

The quality control of submitted manuscripts is carried out by the Editor-in-Chief and/or the Scientific Board and involves at least double-blind peer review or open peer review.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

The goal of the review is to assist authors in improving the quality of their work by providing constructive and timely reviews prepared by experienced academics. RAE considers the review process as a fundamental step for the enhancement of articles. For this reason, RAE reviewers are encouraged to provide, in addition to their opinion on publication, suggestions for improving the content and form of the text.

The review process for articles submitted to RAE includes the following stages:

1. Authors submit their texts on the RAE journal platform.

2. Confirmation of receipt is sent to the authors.

3. The Editor-in-Chief, with the support of the members of the Scientific Board, conducts a screening to verify whether the manuscripts:

a) fall within the scope of RAE and are of sufficient quality. If the decision is favorable, they are sent to two scientific reviewers. The review can be based on two modes, double-blind or open peer review.

b) meet the formal requirements: if this condition is not met, the manuscripts are returned for modification.

4. In the case described in 3.a), reviewers have 5 business days to accept or decline the review.

5. If they accept the review, they commit to completing it within one month by filling out the respective review form.

6. The article is accepted if the peer review indicates acceptance or acceptance with restrictions. The editorial team (editors-in-chief and/or associates, if applicable) may intervene and make the decision of acceptance in cases of a tie after consulting with a third reviewer. If both initial reviewers reject the article, the editors will confirm the rejection decision. If both initial reviewers accept the article, the editors will confirm the acceptance decision.
