HUMAN RESOURCES IN THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION: SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE ON COMPETENCIES FOR INDUSTRY 4.0
Main Article Content
Abstract
We currently live in the era of digitization and transformation of production support technologies, resulting from the introduction of disruptive digital technologies, impacting industrial organization with the objective of improving and the efficiency of its processes. The so-called Fourth Industrial Revolution, or Industry 4.0, is characterized by a fusion of technologies, blurring the boundaries between the physical, digital and biological, changing the nature of many jobs and creating some others non-existent ones, until now. The growing role of technologies linked to Industry 4.0 creates opportunities, with the emergence of new tools and working methods, leading to a new set of specializations, as well as threats with the potential substitution of certain jobs by machines and software. It will therefore be important to specify which competencies are fundamental to the workforce, but also how to assess the capacity of human resources to acquire these new digital competencies. This work aims to present a bibliographic review on this topic, focusing on the competences for Industry 4.0 and the processes through which the workforce can prepare for this new reality. From the preliminary results presented here, the importance attributed to non-technical capabilities stands out, as well as some future research opportunities.
