EVALUATION OF THE IMPACT OF A COMPUTER MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM TO SUPPORT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF ASSET MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS UNDER ISO 55001 STANDARD
Main Article Content
Abstract
There is a wide debate on the increasing challenges for organizations managing engineering The industrial sector is increasingly competitive. Companies are increasingly challenged to stand out amongst their competitors. One option for this differentiation is to keep up, both in technological evolution and in the evolution of the management area, namely that of physical assets. These two areas are intertwined through the convergence between Industry 4.0, the evolution of management software tools, and digital transformation. Physical asset management is a topic that gained interest at the end of the 20th century and was amplified at the beginning of the 21st century, when documents were created for the implementation of a system based on this concept, initially supported by PAS 55 and later by the family of standards ISO 5500X (X=0,1,2), the latter being more adaptable to the current industry. The ISO 55001 standard is recent and brings endogenous benefits, in the strategic and structural aspects and, in an exogenous way, in the internal and external prestige of the Organization, enabling companies that, by acquiring a certification degree in this standard, stand out from their competitors, providing the optimization of their assets, the rationalization of costs and the compliance with the safety and quality requirements. This article refers to a project carried out in an academic environment, but validated in a business context, aiming to evaluate the role of computerized maintenance management systems in the implementation of asset management systems based on the ISO 55001 standard in industrial organizations. This evaluation is done by studying the level of compliance with the requirements of ISO 55001. The results show that the study carried out, was positive in contributing to the relationship between IT systems and ISO 55001.
