Comportamento da banca cooperativa em Portugal: a resiliência do Crédito Agrícola no período de 2007 a 2018

Resumen

O sistema financeiro é um pilar fundamental no funcionamento eficiente do crédito à economia. A crise financeira teve impacto em todo o sistema financeiro, tornando claro a necessidade de a banca em geral ter necessariamente de passar por um processo de mudança de estratégia, nomeadamente na concessão moderada de crédito. Através de uma análise comparativa da banca cooperativa com a restante banca comercial, para o período de 2007 a 2018, conclui-se que, em Portugal, a banca de matriz cooperativa – representada pelo Sistema Integrado de Crédito Agrícola Mútuo – foi mais resiliente perante a crise económica e da dívida soberana, devido ao seu conservadorismo no rácio de transformação, o que lhe permitiu resultados positivos e não degradação dos seus rácios de capital. Através da aplicação das metodologias HEAT! e z-score, evidencia-se que, no período mais agudo da crise, os indicadores do Crédito Agrícola divergem, favoravelmente, da restante banca comercial, colocando o Crédito Agrícola como uma das instituições bancárias com menor risco de insolvência. Portanto, a liquidez e a orientação de longo prazo, características da banca cooperativa, são essenciais para a sua estabilidade e contribuem para a solidez financeira de todo o sistema.

Luis Pacheco, Universidade Portucalense - Infante D. Henrique

PhD in Economics from the Technical University of Lisbon, MSc in Monetary and Financial Economics and a Degree in Economics. Is a University lecturer since 1994, with the responsibility of teaching at undergraduate and master degrees in the financial and economical area. In addition to the teaching activity at Universidade Portucalense, is responsible for two curricular units of the MSc in Economics and Management at the University of Aveiro and has taught courses in the area of finance in undergraduate courses or postgraduate courses at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto, ISVOUGA, UTAD and CESPU. It develops research activities in the financial - capital structure, markets and financial products, etc. - and tourism area - factors of satisfaction, hospitality, etc. – having published works in several national and international scientific journals.
